Did you know that the number 1 sport in the world is weight lifting?
Did you also know that most of those who participate in a weight lifting program do not know how to do so properly?
It has been proven that weight training is the best way to lose weight and reduce body fat. I should know.
Completing a double major in college had completely cut into my exercise schedule. With 40 hours of class a week, and homework on top of that, exercise was put on the back burner.
By the start of my senior year, I was at 156lbs (up from 140 a year prior) standing only 5 feet 5 inches tall. Needless to say I was not very happy. I got into boxing where I lost 20 lbs doing cardio, plyometrics, and many bodyweight exercises such as push ups, sit ups, and squats.
I realized the true value of weight lifting and strength training after a car accident that severely injured my back and neck. Physical therapy made my back and chest stronger than they had ever been. I began to see more muscle mass in my arms and shoulders. My right shoulder, which had always fell lower than my left, was suddenly corrected by newly developed muscles.
In an effort to keep the muscle I had gained, I started lifting weight on a regular basis. Like most people, I had done weight lifting programs early in college with no real big gains. After some research, I discovered some extreme fitness programs that emphasized highly effective moves with good form and high intensity. I also learned about Muscle Confusion to reach my fitness goals.
I began lifting heavier weights and was able to perform more push ups and pull ups. Pushing my body into an intense workout helped me build muscle mass and burn body fat.
What is an Extreme Fitness Workout?
A extreme exercise or workout is when you take your body to its maximum intensity during an exercise. This ensures that you are working every part of a muscle. If you are a long distance runner, participating in sprints or even Plyometric Training can increase the intensity of your workouts. For a weight lifter, it might be pushing your body to its upper limits including working your muscles to complete failure.
High intensity is different for everyone depending on their level of fitness. As long as you feel your are pushing your body close to or at it's maximum performance, then chances are you are hitting your workout at high intensity.
If you are looking to build muscle mass and lose body fat, then you have to push your muscles to the next level.
