Should you spend money on ab exercise machines?

I know you were probably expecting a listing of various ab machines and products, but I would recommend that you read through this article BEFORE you spend any money. Know before you buy.

I wrote this article for the many people looking for the next best ab exercise machines or the gimic of the month. Chances are, those machines are not going to help you achieve you goals of getting a toned stomach.

Ab machines DO NOT miraculously give you great abs on their own.

Am I saying you should never buy any ab exercise machines?

Absolutely not.

What I am saying, is make sure you have the whole picture before you do go out and buy something. There is a lot more to getting nice abs than just using a product. You should know that cardio vascular exercise and your diet are very important parts of the equation. You can do all the crunches and sit ups you want, or buy the latest and greatest product on the market, but if your nutrition is out of whack, it won't make any difference.

Treadmills:

A treadmill could be a good investment, especially if you live in the Northeast like me where the weather gets too cold to run or walk outside. Walking and running help to burn calories and fat that may be stubbornly taking up residence around your stomach. In order to get a sexy flat stomach or ripped six pack abs, you need to burn fat off of your body so that the toned muscles can actually show through. Not only will you be burning fat, you will be fighting against diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Elliptical Machines:

If you are like me, and have bad knees, you may want to try getting an elliptical machine as opposed to a treadmill as it puts less strain on your knees. Not only that, you will actually work more muscles with an ellipitcal machine because of its specialized handles. You can give yourself a great upper body workout while burning calories and fat.

Ab Exercise Machines:

You can search for ab exercise machines online if you would like, but be aware that some machines, like the ab wheel require that you have some level of physical fitness to even use them.

I really recommend that you postpone buying any ab machines until you get your diet under wraps. Remember, you can spend hundreds of dollars on Ab Chairs and Ab Wheels, but it's not going to make one bit of difference if your nutrition is horrible..
