Boxing - The Fittest Athletes In All Of Sports

Boxing is a whole other fitness realm. It's extreme. It takes dedication and focus. And it can transform your body from every day to extraordinary in a few months.

If you do not mind paying for a gym membership, and are looking for something different, I highly recommend you try this sport.

I fought in the amateur circuit for 3 1/2 years and what an experience that was. I lost 20lbs in a matter of months and built more muscle in my body than I knew I had. I did not lift weights when I started, my training consisted mostly of bodyweight exercises like push ups, sit ups, and squats. Despite the lack of heavy weights, all of my friends noticed my developing arm muscles.

My legs were tone, my stomach was ripped, my arms were defined. I was in the best shape I had ever been in in my life. Yet everytime I stepped into that ring to spar or fight I was completely exhausted by the end!

If you are wondering, yes, I won the fight pictured above. That's me on the right.

No sport I have ever participated in has ever taken every ounce of my energy. It's about quick feet, fast reflexes, amazing strength, endurance, and perseverence.

Why Is Boxing Such Great Exercise?

The reason I was able to develop my body so quickly in such a short period of time is because every workout was a total body workout. No matter what you are doing, your whole body is working as one, whether it's to move or stabilize.

The part I like best is that it's fun. That's right, exercise is supposed to be fun. But the best exercises are those that do not make you feel like you are.

With so many different bags and training techniques, the sport offers an almost limitless supply of training opportunities. Especially if you take part in sparring. Every partner becomes a different training routine.

Do I Have To Fight To Get The Real Benefits?

You do not have participate in sparring or fighting to reaps the benefits of the workout.

If you really want to get the full benefits, I do not recommend taking a class at the local gym. These are watered down versions of the real thing. There are plenty of gyms that specialize in real training. Many are very female friendly too. Get out there and find one that fits your personality.
