Detox Body Diet
A detox body diet can rid your body of toxins and get you started on the path to healthier living. One method of cleansing the body of toxins is to drink nothing but juice and water for a period of days. Before beginning any type of diet, especially a body detox diet, consult your doctor. Our bodies naturally remove toxins by way of the colon, liver, and kidneys. Feeling congested, having low energy and trouble sleeping are signs that you may need a detox body diet. Most people begin to consider a full body cleansing when they suspect that their bodies may be overwhelmed with chemicals that cause liver and kidney damage. People often repot:
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding a baby should not undertake a cleansing. People with anorexia, bulimia, ulcers, cancer, heart disease or other chronic conditions should seek advice from their doctor before undertaking to cleanse their bodies. Foods that should be eaten when on a detox body diet include fresh or frozen fruit and vegetables, especially broccoli, cauliflower, garlic, onions, and artichokes. All types of rice are good foods to help cleanse the body. Rice cakes and brown rice are especially good for cleansing. Split peas and beans are easy to digest. Kidney beans, brown beans and garbanzo beans will meet protein needs while helping to remove toxins from the body. Nuts and seeds without salt are a good snack. Many people enjoy sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds. Cashews and walnuts are also a tasty treat that will stimulate the elimination of toxins from the body. Peanuts and peanut butter are not so good for the body. Foods should include sea salt, soy sauce, all herbs and spices and olive oil. Herbal and green teas stimulate the liver and other organs to release toxins. Drink plenty of water, lemon water, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetable juices. Be sure to thoroughly wash all fresh fruits and vegetables to remove pesticides. Rinsing vegetables and fruits under cold running water for about 5 minutes should be sufficient to remove toxins that are present on all but organically grown foods. You should avoid all processed sugars and artificial sweeteners. Dairy products like milk, butter, sour cream, and cream cheese are heavy and should not be eaten while on a cleansing diet. Likewise, avoid wheat products and gluten containing grains like rye and barley. Avoid products that contain yeast, artificial colors, and preservatives. High fat foods and chocolate leave toxins in your body and will defeat your cleansing diet. If you can not avoid coffee completely, try to limit caffeine to one cup of coffee per day if possible. Even decaffeinated coffee should be avoided while undertaking a detox body diet. After even a few days of a cleansing diet, you will feel healthier, have more energy, and may even lose some body fat. Combining the diet with mild to moderate exercise and practicing stress reduction, like breathing exercises or meditation, will also lead to better over all health. There are many over the counter liver cleansing herbal treatments available at many health food and grocery stores. Also, I really recommend reading Super Cleanse: Detox Your Body for Long-Lasting Health and Beauty, a great book dedicated to find the best body detox home remedy for you.
