The Best Exercise to Burn Fat From Your Body

What is the best exercise to burn fat? So many people ask me this question. People assume that those who are able to stay fit and in shape have a secret weapon. The truth of the matter is there are no real secrets in the world of fitness. Many of us follow a exercise schedule that includes strength training and cardio.

If you truly want to know the best exercise to burn fat, then the answer is strength training. Muscle burns much more calories than fat, and the only way to build muscle if to pick up some weights at the gym.

One extra pound of muscle burns anywhere from 30-60 extra calories a day. Now imagine you add 5lbs of muscle to your frame. You are now burning an extra 150-300 calories without doing a thing.

Now that is not the whole story. Although strength training has been proven to be the best exercise to burn fat, it must be done in conjunction with a healthy diet. You cannot eat cheeseburgers and french fries all day and expect to have a six pack from lifting weights. You must eat a sensible diet. You can check out my diet plan here.


What About Cardio Exercise?



Cardiovascular exercise is also a great way to burn fat through the use of calories. A problem that most people face when they want to lose fat is that they go on these extreme low calorie diets. While some of the weight you lose may be fat, you are also breaking down lean muscle tissue. This is why performing cardiovascular exercise alone will not help you burn fat.

If you are on a diet, you should not lose more than 1-2lbs a week. This ensures that you are losing body fat and not muscle mass. Losing weight too quickly will result in the loss of precious muscle mass we wish to keep.

So some of you came here looking for a quick one answer solution and may feel a bit disappointed by not finding that one exercise to burn fat. I am sorry I could not help you on this quest, but I do not want to lead you astray.

I all honesty, I highly recommend that you start a strength training program. Adding 2-3 days of strength training will greatly improve you body's ability to burn fat.
