My Personal Review:
First, I would like to give you my personal review of P90X as I have used the product and continue to use the product. The fact that I continue to use the product should be enough in itself, but let me elaborate.
I have tried a number of different DVD's and VHS's over the years. I must admit I hated them. Why? Because I became bored very quickly. Plus, I found that they did not achieve the intensity that I wanted. More money wasted.
Well let me tell you I do not feel I wasted my money on P90X. I would buy it all over again if I had the chance. P90X got me back into getting in shape. I was really, I mean really out of shape when I started the P90X program. Tony Horton gave me the motivation I needed to get back into shape and the variety I needed to not get bored with my routines.
These workouts are hard. They were no walk in the park for me when I started. Like I said, I was out of shape and I really got my butt kicked for the first few weeks. Some of the workout routines like Yoga, are still tough for me today. It is why I still enjoy doing them if I cannot find time to run to the gym.
The program does not require a lot of equipment, which is great. It also helped me lose over 10lbs of body fat. Not only that, but I was stronger than I had ever been. Family and friends noticed the increase in muscle mass, especially when I wore a tank top. It was obvious that this was working.
Overall, I was very happy with the results I got from the P90X program. But do not take my word for it, here are some other P90X reviews for you to read.

I just finished P90X two weeks ago. It took longer then I had hoped because I pulled a lower abdominal muscle while doing the ab ripper X routine. Unfortunately this kept me away from P90X for 5 weeks to recover. Besides that, these videos give you an awesome work out. I am gearing up to do it again in two weeks. This time I will really focus on the diet and yogaX, which I would skip sometimes. Other than that, I got totally ripped from this plan and can knock out 60 pushups no sweat now.

I have been on P90X for 3 weeks and its AWESOME!! I started out at almost 39 yrs old 5'8" and 222lbs. I never exercised that much in the past 10 or so years. But after 3 weeks I have more energy, more stamina. I can run and sprint and climb a flight of stairs without wheezing. Some sites I have seen say "It's not for people who are obese or out of shape". Well I'm both and I love it. Tony even tells you on some exercises "Do it this way if you cannot do it the regular way". The modifications are built in. It's not for everyone, but I love it. And if you choose to do it and stick with, it will be one of the best decisions you could make. "Just Bring It!"

I am a Non-believer in basically ALL info-mercials, and would have probably never purchased this program, but my roommate did, and we started it a week ago. I played basketball in college and in Europe, and these workouts, using the right resistance and following the steps true to form will kick your butt. I love it, and the Plyometrics, I've done numerous in College, but these are by far the hardest, I was sore for 2 days. This is a great program, and although I'm trying to gain weight, and not lose it, this program is phenominal. Just have to stick with it though, because you will want to stop sometimes.

Hey guys, let me tell you another benefit of the p90x programs. I'm a very tall and thin guy, it's been that way all my life. I'm 28yrs old and was only able to gain weight during my 8yrs of active duty. I lost 27lbs after I discharged from the military over a 2 yr time span. This program took me my body back to its familiar "guerilla" drill workouts. I gained 11 lbs of my former muscle mass in 3 weeks. Yeah its hard and yeah its requires dedication, you will love the results!!

This product is what I expected from the infomercial - the infomercial is a good representation of what you'll get. The DVDs are good, come in a small case (no excess packaging to exaggerate or compensate for lack of real product). The accompanying written materials are good too.
However, I found that I wasn't quite in shape enough when P90X arrived to use it well. I went back and bought Tony Horton's "Power Half Hour" and used that for a few weeks first - had to wake up some muscles I've let go dormant. I've been in good shape most of my life, but kind of got lazy lately - I needed to get a basic foundation before I could jump into the incredible workouts he provides.
Make no mistake; this is a commitment. The workouts are long, and hard, but they are engaging. No geeky cheesy cheerleader pep talks in the DVD, and no arrogant gym rat jerks either. If I win the lottery, I'll try to hire Tony as my personal trainer; he has a good positive attitude, and seems to keep the workouts real with a sense of humility and humor.
The segment timer is great. Though the workouts are typically an hour long, he has "chunked" them down into segments, with a "progress bar" on the screen - kind of like the bar on the computer - so you can adjust your pace or your mindset with the workout.
Tony uses both men and women of differing degrees of flexibility and fitness; there's always a body on the screen up there to help me with my own form.
I'm a former Marine - and this is used to replace my "daily thirteen." If only I knew about some of these workouts back in the day... So I give it a thumbs up from the perspective of some really challenging workouts I've experienced in the past.
Overall, a good deal. But be warned, it isn't for the fat couch potato. Like the infomercial says, its for folks that want to get in BETTER shape; the expectation is that you already are in shape and want to take it to the next level.

3 out of 5 stars
The workout itself deserves 10 stars I've done it and I'll definitely do it again.
However, the food plan isn't for everyone. I'm diabetic and the first part of the food plan is ok. But when they start to add carbs back in to the plan it goes awry. By the third month they've added lots of refined carbs (pasta) and that's a no-no. They also shy away from healthy fats like olive oil and coconut oil.
I tried eating their way and I found my blood sugar went way up and I gained weight. I had to go back to eating low glycemic veggies in order to get my glucose levels to normal.
So, if you have diabetes, please ignore the food plan and stick to what your doctor/nutritionist/dietician told you to eat.
Other than that the workout is fantastic, challenging, and well worth doing. It'll really firm you up. I put on a few pounds of pure muscle in the 3 months I was on the program.
