Tony Ford - Extreme Ab Routine

You took this straight from p90x.

Even the phrase at the end:Do not do this routine every day. You do not work other parts of your body every day.

Tony Horton says "Do not do this everyday. You don't work other parts of your body and you shouldn't do abs, especially ab ripper x. lets all go into child's pose."

I know because I purchased P90X and it has changed my life.

Ripped Abs with P90X
by: Lauren

Tony, thanks so much for writing about the 6 pack abs routine on the site.

You are correct. This routine is based mainly off of the P90X routine Tony Horton uses because, as you state yourself, it truly kicks butt. The exercises are intense and you know as well as I do that P90X can change your life if you do the exercises correctly. It really is one of the best ab routines I have come across in the fitness and exercise world and why I share it here with my readers.

In terms of this routine, I suggest to do bicycles differently than Tony does as I found the way he does them puts a bit more strain on the back for those of us with slightly weaker lower backs.

He also does no use Plank which is one of the top 10 ab exercises and just a great tool for work your total body. I am surprised that he omits this one as it's an overall muscle developer in terms of abs, shoulders, chest, etc. You should try adding it to your routine.

Not using this routine everyday is a wise thing. I recommend on all my exercises that you never work any muscle group every day. In fact, most fitness websites recommend this same thing. It's not Tony's concept, just common sense. Your muscles need the time to recouperate from a workout, especially one as intense as this. You really only need to work the abdominals a couple times a week.

Most of getting good abs is following a great nutrition routine. In fact, P90X offers a great nutritional guide that goes along with the program. Could you tell us more about your results with P90X and whether or not you followed the nutrition guide as recommended?

I really recommend that anyone looking for a really intense workout routine checks out Tony Horton's P90X because it really is an amazing workout program that has changed my life and the lives of many others.
