Water and Weight Loss - How drinking enough water can help you actually Lose Weight!

Water is an essential part of our body. It is why water and weight loss can go hand in hand.

Did you know that the body is composed of 75-80% water? Every cell in our body depends on the right amount of water to function properly. Dehydration starts by losing only 1-2% of body water. Severe confusion and death can occur from losing 5%-10% of water weight.

Make sure you get at least 8 glasses of water a day to prevent your body from becoming dehydrated. I know this is not east, but see if you can find ways to always have some water on you or close by. Refilling a plastic water bottle or container works wonders.

Where to Get Your Water

Bottled water has become a popular item these days. Save yourself some money, and the environment some plastic, by purchasing a water purifier for your faucet or a Brita for your fridge. This will save your kidneys from doing extra work from processing tap water.

Your faucet is not the only source of water. There are plenty of other ways to get water through the foods we eat. Fruits especially have a high water content. Try to eat to 3-5 servings of fruit a day to maximize the amount of water getting into your body.

Most fluids you drink count towards your water total such as milk and juice. Try to stay away from coffee and tea. They are diuretics and cause you to lose water. They should not be counted towards your total water intake.

Water and Weight Loss

water Remember above I told you that every cell in your body counts on the right amount of water. Well, this is especially true for the largest organ in your body - the liver. If the liver is dehydrated, it can not digest fats as quickly or efficiently. If fat is not being digested, then it's being stored where you do not want it to be.

Your liver will benefit most from the water and weight loss formula. Drinking extra water can help detox the liver and keep it functioning in tip top condition.

Also, when you don't drink enough water your body goes into survival mode. This causes your body to save stores of energy and water. When you drink enough water consistently, your body will release water stores. This is why most people frequent the bathroom often when they change their hydration habits.

Don't worry if this happens for the first few days. Your body needs to adjust to your new practice. When it realizes it is getting sufficient water every day, it will lose its water stores, and re-regulate your bathroom time. Just give it time. You'll notice big changes.

If you drink water before a meal, it can help you feel fuller. As I mentioned before, fruit is a great source of water. Try eating a cup of fruit before you sit down to dinner and see how much less you will eat.

Getting the correct amount of water every day isn't easy. But always keep a bottle around you at work or at home and constantly drink. Have a glass with every meal and snack. Have a glass before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning. Just be consistent with providing clean water to your body and it will thank you in the long run.

Water and weight loss go hand in hand. Give your body 8 glasses of water a day, and watch that excess water weight fade away .
